How long do you plan to own your camera?
I'll bet your answer is "longer than 1 year" which is the basic manufacturer's warranty placed on most digital and video cameras these days. "One year parts and labour" is often the phrase that's used ... what does that mean anyway? It means that IF your camera breaks down (or the round knob doo-hicky thing falls off) 24 months after you bought the camera, you're in for a shock!

Why pay $100, 200 or 300 to fix your 2 year old digital or video camera when you could have it repaired for NOTHING if you bought a $99 extended warranty at the time you bought your camera! It is not uncommon for repairs costing MORE than the replacement cost of your camera ... seriously!

Our extended warranty program offers you 2 EXTRA YEARS of warranty coverage for a fraction of the price of repairs. All you need to do is look at the chart on the right side and pick the warranty cost ... it's that simple. Our extended warranty plan essentially mirrors the manufacturer's warranty covering the same items. Obviously, physical abuse, impact, water and sand damage are not covered (don't even think about sending in a camera that has been dropped ... the repair guys are VERY thorough).

Remember extended warranties are an investment and not a cost!

I've heard that extended warranties are a scam to get extra money out of consumers?
Not everyone likes extended warranties. Not everyone likes insurance policies either! Extended warranties are like insurance policies ... some people go all their life without a claim, yet others have disaster strike and their insurance money helps them rebuild their lives. Warranties are like insurance and it depends on your level of comfort and confidence in the products you buy. Warranties are not a scam, in fact our warranties are underwritten by a top Canadian insurance underwriter.

Who's warranty is it anyway?
Your warranty is underwritten by "La Capital Insurance Co." who are responsible for extended warranties at many national electronic and photo retail stores in Canada.

What if Camera Canada goes bankrupt ... will my warranty still be valid?
In the unlikely event that we cease to survive the Canadian on-line retail market, your warranty is still valid.

Is the warranty transferable in case I sell my camera?
Yes the warranty is transferrable.

Is the warranty useful across Canada?
Yes. Your camera can be repaired at any authorized manufacturer's depot. To find out where the closest repair facility is, either contact us OR call the customer service number on your warranty receipt.

Can I buy an extended warranty if I live in the US?
Yes, you can purchase an extended warranty from Camera Canada, however, should your camera need repair, you will need to send it back to Camera Canada.

If I have a problem ... what do I do?
The first thing to do in the event of a camera problem is to confirm that the problem actually exists and not just a case of bad batteries or operator error. Believe me, I've seen so-called camera "problems" that are really caused by old batteries or a mis-fed film. So, assuming you have a real problem, call or e-mail Camera Canada for the location of an authorized service bureau nearest you. We will require an invoice number so keep it handy! You will be notified what to do and where to send your camera.

What if the problem persists ... am I stuck with a lemon?

Like it or not, some cameras are lemons! Our insurer has a "No Lemon" policy of replacing the camera after 2 repairs if it still does not work! This ensures that you will be 100% satisfied with your purchase.
Consumer Reports often test cameras for reliability which sometimes steers your purchase to one brand over another.
